Sunday Shuffle #7: "Can't even see the knob!"

Again, title means nothing. You can go ahead and assume that I'm going to just be quoting things at random most of the time.

The Flaming Lips - The Deterioration Of The Fight Or Flight Response. Stay off the drugs, Wayne.

The Magnetic Fields - How Fucking Romantic. Oh man, awesome. I challenge you to find a better song that clocks in under a minute. There just isn't one. And hey, this is the same two bands we started with last week! Isn't that weird?

Pulp - The Fear. Oh, it's not going to carry on like that then. Well, OK, I'm not complaining. It's Pulp, and not just any Pulp, it's This Is Hardcore era Pulp. So, that's one of my favourite albums ever, and this is one of my favourite songs from it. Just so gloriously claustrophobic, and setting a perfect tone for the album that follows. And hey, if you know any other "our previous album made us famous, and it turns out fame sucks" albums, do tell me, because the two I know of are both rather incredible.

Doves - Some Cities. So, yeah, Some Cities. It just doesn't have the grand ambition of Lost Souls or The Last Broadcast. And that applies to the albums, the title tracks, and indeed the titles themselves.

Biffy Clyro - Toys Toys Toys Choke Toys Toys Toys. You just can't argue with a title like that. Well, OK, the song isn't that great. Oh, OK, it's pretty good once it gets going, but there's a little too much guitar funkery and random screaming going on before it does. It's no Glitter And Trauma or Liberate The Illiterate though.

Feeder - Love Pollution. Well, this is the kind of dull and cloying crap that's gradually seeped into their music more and more and is now the only thing they ever do. No thanks.

Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have It So Much Better. Well, that's a good antidote. "GET UP! GET UP! COME ON, GET UP! GET UP!". Yeah.

Kasabian - Pinch Roller. From only hearing their singles, I'd never imagined they'd have record anything that sounded remotely like this. Oh, it's just a really short instrumental thing though. I guess it's just an intro or interlude or something.

Tom Vek - Cover. LOUD NOISES!!! Excuse me. So, anyway, Tom Vek is all about the robot dance.

Mansun - Legacy. Oh, now this is a pretty fantastic one to end on. Hey, does Six count for the thing I was talking about earlier with This Is Hardcore? Because frankly, I really don't have the slightest clue what very much of it is about. But "I feel so drained, my legacy/a sea of faces just like me" sure sounds like it fits the bill.
